Printmaking History, Processes, and Artists

Purpose:
To become familiar with basic printmaking history, processes, and artists

History:
Printing originated in early China with a book called "Diamond Sutra." the next major breakthrough in printing was moveable type, also invented in China. Even before this there were religious prints that were copied by hand and distributed. After this people started making prints just to make art. Now that there are moveable letters, books become much more accessible.
As art advances there are a few types of printmaking that arise. Woodblock, silk screening, linotype, etching, mono-printing, and lithography are all different types of print making.
